Our Beach Party!!!

Here are some pictures from our amazing beach party! We had our choice of 5 pools or the beach everyday, food anywhere or anytime we wanted, walk up bars that would make any drink you wanted all day long, a coffee shop that Libby became very fond of. She would stop by several times a day for chocolate milk when she wasn't ordering pina colada.

This is the one of the pools that is about 50 feet from the ocean.

This is the beach area were we spent most of our time.

San Antonio Trip

We made it back from San Antonio. Somehow the camera didn't make it out of the bag so I don't have any picture. I guess it was a trip we don't want to remember. We drove down Thursday and stayed at a nice hotel just off the riverwalk.

Friday, after Dennis' meetings we went to lunch at one of the riverwalk restaurants. After a two hour wait in 100 degree tempatures we got our food. We went straigt to Six Flags Fiesta Texas after lunch and as we were looking for a parking spot Dennis and I got very sick, so back to the hotel.

We decided to try Six Flags again then next day....as we were looking for a parking place a storm started to develope. There was some lightening so they made everyone get off the rides in the water park. We really wanted to go to the water park but since we didn't have a lot of time we thought we would catch a couple rides and call it good. The storm seemed to be quite small. To the south and west the sky was beautiful blue. So..as we went throught the entrance gate it started to rain and didn't stop. Once inside we discovered that all the rides were closed except two, Scooby Doo and little bumper cars. We decided to try Scooby Doo and after a 45 minute wait they said the ride wasn't working. That was enough and we headed back to the car in the pouring rain. We were hoping the traffic would clear while we walked around the park in the rain. Not a chance. We got back to the car and put on our dry swim suits. We were blocked by parked cars and couldn't move for over an hour...and remember this is an amusement park crowd...lots of honking, etc. Finally the driver of the car blocking us showed up and we were able to move. Of course the exits were jammed, we'd had enough and had to be at a formal dinner in less than an hour, so we drove out the entrance.

After dinner (9:30 p.m) Dennis proposed that we drive home that night. Carly loved the idea of a night road trip and no one else had an opinion, so we packed our rooms in 10 minutes and headed home. (5 hour drive) Three hours into the drive we realized the valet didn't give my keys back. Around 3 a.m we made it home.

What a trip! In spite of it all we laughed a lot.

Birthday Cake for Grammy

Libby wanted to make a birthday cake for Grammy so Darci let her make some chocolate pudding. They sang "Sissy's Classics" (aka songs from The Phantom of the Opra) while stirring. Libby said to put Grammy's "cake" in the fridge and Grammy would be here soon to eat it.

More Progress

The rest of the counter tops are done! We installed the backsplash tile this weekend. The bottom picture before we moved in. I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Counter Tops

We picked up our counter tops on Friday!!! Unfortunatly the piece for the sink and the bar were made too short. We installed the island and the small counter area and we love it.

Memorial Day

We all spent some time in the pool over the weekend. The water is averaging 85 degrees.

End of Year Events

Carly's National Jr. Honor Society induction is tomorrow.
Darci had her 8th grade banquet Friday and her final choir concert last night.
Libby's preschool graduation program.

Making Progress

Here are some pictures of the progress in our kitchen in the last 10 days. We have removed wallpaper, textured (2 1/2 - 68lb buckets of mud), painted, (& don't forget the two coats of primer- before texture and before paint), removed the cabinet the goes across the bar, removed old base boards and replaced with new 6" base boards, steam cleaned tile floor and grout, cleaned/sanded cabinet doors and restained, replaced cabinet hardware (handles), replaced all light fixtures and last but NOT AT ALL LEAST scraped the popcorn ceiling, repaired the seams, etc., textured and painted. We are now waiting on the new counter tops to be finished and we will replace them an finish the backsplash with tile.

House Projects

We put down 820 sq feet of sod and two truck loads of graved on the side of the diveway during the last week.

Also, we tilled the entire back yard so we can plant seed this week.

Most of my flowers from last year are coming back and they are beautiful.

And last but not at all least...Darci's bathroom is finished!!

Speedway

Our friends invited us to spend the day with them at the Texas Motor Speedway last Saturday. This NASCAR race is a BIG deal when it's in town. People setup their "camp" a week before the races. Our friends have a spot in the inner circle against the fence, which means the only thing between you and the race is a couple fences and a grassy area. It was one of the best places to be at the races. These spots in the inner circle have a nine year waiting list.

New Hair

Carly and I got our hair cut today. She wanted several inches off the length and something a little different so everyone wouldn't say "you look just like your mom". Well, I got my hair cut this morning and when she saw it she said "I love your cut" and her's is just like it!

Open For Business

I've finally caved in to the peer pressure and started my blog page!!

*Edit*
There are a lot of projects going on down here and one of them is finally finished. The shower in Darci's bathroom is done (phew). However it may still need to have some touch ups. And the fence in the back is repaired. It had fallen during the last storm that was so windy, we're lucky that only one fence section fell. Our back-door neighbor was a HUGE help with everything. {I wish...} but karma will get him when he sees the lovely job done on his side....

Libby went swimming today, although it was only from the waist down. She loves to swim and if she had her way she would everyday despite the temperature. Just before that she did a photo shoot with Darci. She is such a model, she can pose and use props like no other two year old I've ever seen. She is our little angel.

Carly has just finished reading the Titian's Curse and has a new liking for Greek mythology. She is on the lookout for any good reads.

Darci has had a busy week in her music career, what with having an audition for her high schools varsity choir as well as having to learn a song for a state-wide competition. Also she got her braces off on Wednesday which was VERY exciting, seeing as she has had them on since 3rd grade!

I'll try to have the blog updated weekly or as often as necessary.
